Glass Fishing Floats |
||
|
Glass Floats. Blown glass fishing floats were used a century ago to float the nets of Asian fishermen. Occasionally they would break free and wash up on Pacific coasts to the delight of collectors and beachcombers. Rarely are the old ones found on the seashore these days, but we make them new at Avalon Glassworks, in the spirit of the original. We appreciate the ingenuity that tied glassblowers to fishermen, and the unintended journey of their floats. We take delight in uniting craftsman and collector. We want the beauty of these objects to live on in your home or garden. These glass balls are amazingly strong, blown brand new in our Seattlte art glass studio in an array of colors and patterns. We cap them with a distinctive textured stopper to cover the hole left by the blowpipe. They are attractive in your home or garden, and of course, will float in a pond, birdbath, or pool. They are available in two sizes: 3.5" medium, and 5" large. Sold individually or as sets.
